ACTIVITY WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION NETWORK (ICN)
In addition to its activity in OECD, the Antitrust Authority is active in the professional working groups of the ICN (International Competition Network) organization, and until quite recently served as a member of the organization's steering committee that incorporates 120 competition authorities from 106 countries worldwide.
The organization's work is carried out through working groups, comprising members from a variety of countries, who promote various professional projects: policy documents, periodical reports, questionnaires and surveys, workshops and seminars, recommended practices, etc. The Antitrust Authority takes an active part in the various projects and discussions of the working groups in which it is a member, including the working groups in the field of mergers, cartels and monopolies. In each one of the abovementioned working groups, the Antitrust Authority contributes its professional experience that it has accumulated in the field of antitrust in Israel and simultaneously updates itself with what is being done in these subjects worldwide.
In addition, in June 2015 the World Bank awarded a commendation to the Antitrust Authority in a ceremony that took place in Washington, for its activity in increasing competition in the field of credit cards and the promotion of the use of direct debit cards in Israel with inter-governmental cooperation. The World Bank mentioned 15 competition authorities worldwide that are worthy of commendation for special activity and invited them to the World Bank's headquarters to present the subject at a ceremony held in conjunction with the International Competition Network (ICN).
